Software Support Tools

Materials Generators
According to Roblyer, 2016, materials generators are software support tool helps produce materials on paper or online for instruction. Therefore, materials generators are extremely beneficial to educators and students. Having access to these types of tools gives teachers the ability to create documents, web pages, lessons, and exercises easily (Roblyer, 2016). One example of a materials generator is Certificate Maker. This website has an abundance of editable certificates that can be used in the classroom. Materials generators such as these not only make students feel important and celebrate their hard work, but they are free, easy to use, and easy to access. Puzzle Maker is another materials generator. This tool allows teachers to custom make puzzles .Roblyer, 2016 states that this can be used with math facts and cloze readings.  According to Roblyer, 2016, these types of software support tool helps produce materials on paper or online for instruction.

Testing & Grading Tools

A Google Add-on grading tool  that I look forward to using in my classroom is Orange Slice: Teacher Rubric. This add on generates rubrics for grading. This increases grading productivity and communicates to students what is expected of them on an assignment. Furthermore, the easy to use format saves times! Another grading tool is Flubaroo. On this add-on, you are able to create assignments and answer keys and assign it to students. Then, Flubaroo grades it for you, highlights problematic questions, and can email scores to students.

Graphic Tools
A graphic tool is a Google Add-On called (G) Math. This add-on creates math expressions, graphs, and charts. Teacher's can even handwrite formulas and (G) math converts it to a formula or chart. This would be extremely helpful for students to get math notes and charts when absent from school. Gliffy Diagrams is also a graphic tool a teacher could benefit from. This tool generates charts such as flowcharts. These can be incorporated into instruction to enhance student learning.

Planning and Organizing Tools
Parent-teacher conferences are very common in schools. However, so are busy schedules for teachers. Therefore, the planning tool Parent-Teacher Conference Scheduler is a necessity! Through this site, a teacher can set up conference times, send out a link to parents, an allow them to sign up. Parents are able to change their appointment at any time and also receive a reminder of the appointment. Lesson Plan Tool for Docs is another planning and organizing tool. This add-on enables you to find and add aligned resources to lesson plans. This is helpful for teachers because  as teachers, nothing is better than free resources! It provides the standards and grades aligned with the resources, and also effectiveness scores to ensure the best resource is chosen for the lesson.

Research and Reference Tools
These types of online tools are electronic dictionaries and encyclopedias (Roblyer, 2016). Golden Dict, and online dictionary, is an example of a research tool. It allows students to become familiar with technology and researching information. Easy Bib is another example of this type of tool. Students can correctly cite sources without fear of plagiarism and can learn how to correctly cite sources.

  1. Love your resources! The Puzzlemaker would be a great way to change up the daily activities for students and allow them to practice their skills. (Roblyer, 2016, PG 144) You are very accurate in stating that teachers have a busy schedule! I love the Parent-Teacher conference scheduler that you located and plan on implementing that resource in my classroom.

  2. Love your newest blog. You have some really great points and resources. EasyBib is so helpful when writing research papers. Flubaroo seems like a really great sight for creating assignments and answer keys. Roblyer (2016) says that testing and grading tools help teacher collect and track assessment information to measure students progress and your link really hits the nail on the head (p.141). Keep up the good work Katie!
